Trade Promotion and Marketing Scheme (TPMS) 09 August 2021

The Trade Promotion and Marketing Scheme (TPMS) entails a rebate on the all-in air freight costs, including the fuel surcharge and security surcharge, to some specific destinations. In an aim to ensure that our exporters take maximum benefit of this scheme, we would like to make a quick recap of the eligibility criteria and process to register their company to submit the claim and obtain refund under the TPMS.

Details of the TPMS:

  • The Scheme is presently valid up to 30 June 2022.

  • The TPMS applies to all products, except: All agricultural and non-agricultural products produced /manufactured in Mauritius are eligible except for: machinery, live animals and chemicals.

  • Those eligible under the TPMS will benefit as follows:

    • For exports from 1st July 2020 to 31st October 2020:
      • Subject to paragraph (ii) below, 40% refund of Air freight Cost (All-in prices) including Fuel Surcharge and Security Surcharge.
      • 40 % refund of Air Freight Cost (All-in prices) including Fuel Surcharge and Security Surcharge for export of vegetables, fruits and flowers will be shared equally between the Planter and the Exporter who will each be eligible to 20%.
    • For exports from 1st November 2020 to 30th June 2022:
      • Subject to paragraph (ii) below, 60% refund of Air Freight Cost (All-in prices) including Fuel Surcharge and Security Surcharge
      • 60% refund of Air Freight Cost (All-in prices) including Fuel Surcharge and Security Surcharge for export of vegetables, fruits, flowers will be equally shared between the Planter and the Exporter who will each be eligible to 30%

  • The rebate is capped at Rs30 Million per Applicant irrespective of destination (Eligible Markets only) for the financial year ending June 2022.

  • The Sea-Air option (Mauritius-Reunion Island-CDG Paris) is eligible for the financial year ending June 2022 (Effective for exports as from 1st Nov 2020)

For all members who would like to benefit from the TPMS scheme, we would urge you to register your company with the EDB accordingly since all exports done before registration with the EDB will not be eligible for refund.
