Sim Card Re registration

MEXA attended a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office regarding the issue of re-registration of Sim Cards

As you are aware, every Sim Card holder must duly register his/her Sim Card by 30 April 2024, to avoid any Sim Card deactivation.

We would like to highlight a few important points concerning this exercise:

  1. Documents to be submitted:
    • Mauritian Citizens:
  1. Copy of National Identity Card or Passport
  2. Copy of recent proof of address (not later than 3 months)

    • Non – Citizens / Expatriate Worker:
  1. Copy of Passport
  2. Copy of Residence/Occupation Permit
  3. Copy of recent proof of address (not later than 3 months)
  • Registration:
  1. Both new and existing customers, citizen or non-citizens, may re-register their SIMS at their respective service providers’ outlets or via their online registration portal.
  2. The re-registration of corporate Sim Cards (allocated to an employee on behalf of his/her employer) must be carried out by the company’s HR/ITdepartment. This exercise can also be completed at the respective service providers’ outlets or online.

  • Expatriate Workers:

  1. It was brought to our attention that in some cases, while proceeding with the re-registration online, error messages such as “Verification Failed” or “Record not found” appeared on the screen. In such cases, companies must make sure that the UID of their expatriate workers match with their passport number. In case of a new passport, the company must do the needful at the Passport and Immigration Office (PIO) to match it with the worker’s UID.
  2. In case the matter is still not resolved, companies must report the case to the PIO (Level 8, Sterling House, Port Louis)

MEXA is currently working with the Prime Minister’s Office and ICTA on this project. Should you have any questions/query, do not hesitate to escalate them to us and we shall do the needful.

We also have a dedicated phone number at ICTA, 211 5333 for any query.
