As from this Monday 07 August 2023 and for the coming weeks (until 18th August 2023), more than 1000 students will get the opportunity to visit our Export Manufacturing companies.
MEXA has been working on this project with the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology since the past few weeks and the aim is to increase the visibility of the Export Sector and is also part of redefining the image of the sector vis-à-vis the youth.
We have received an overwhelming response from the secondary schools and were completely submerged with positive feedback and interests from the schools to visit our companies.
However, since the students are currently on the third trimester, the Ministry of Education has approved a timeframe of only two weeks to schedule the visits on well-defined time slots.
Hence, MEXA has responded positively to the requests of 19 secondary schools comprising of 1,056 students who have started their visits as from this morning.
- Students of Vacoas SSS and Manilall Doctor SSS visited Maurilait Production Ltee and Natec Medical Ltd respectively.
It is the first time that MEXA has taken such an initiative and is also a test case for our members. 11 companies in our membership are currently involved in this project and we have unfortunately not been able to include more companies.
But we are already working with the Ministry of Education to make these visits a regular feature in the school calendar as from next year and we will also be able to accommodate more schools and more visits in companies.
