MEXA launches an Expression of Interest for the selection of Consultants for Economic Report on the Export Sector
09 February 2022
The Mauritius Export Association is inviting an “Expression of Interest” from suitably qualified Consultants/Consultancy Firms having required experience and knowledge of the Manufacturing Export Sector to produce an Economic Report on the Export Sector.
1. Background of the project:
With globalization and changing international market dynamics, a comprehensive set of trade statistics and professional sectoral trade reports are instrumental to provide a clear diagnosis of the export sector of a country.
Feedback from consultations with our related export stakeholders have shown that there is a gap in terms of qualitative and quantitative data on the export sector of Mauritius.
At the level of MEXA, we believe it is important to develop an Economic Report on the performance of the export sector of Mauritius, comprising both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
The objectives of the Economic Report would encompass among others;
- To provide quantitative analytical data on exports trends and forecasts of the export sub-sectors.
- To provide qualitative data as well, with detailed analysis on the challenges, opportunities and issues related to Mauritius export performance.
- To provide comprehensive analytical data on all components of the export sub-sectors (e.g., Textiles & Apparel, Seafood, Jewellery, Medical Devices, among others).
- To provide a good reference and basis to determine the Risk-rating of the sector.
- To provide benchmarking analysis comparing Mauritius to other export-led economies across the world (e.g., Singapore, Vietnam, China, India, Bangladesh, etc.)
Overall, the Economic Report would be the main instrument for disseminating the findings and analysis of the performance of the export sector of Mauritius to main stakeholders.
