First round of the UAE-Mauritius CEPA negotiations

The first round of negotiations of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and Mauritius was held from 4th to 6th  September 2023.

The meeting focused on Trade in Goods, Trade in Services, Trade Remedies, Rules of origin, Customs Procedures and Trade Facilitation, Technical Barriers to trade, Economic Cooperation and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). With regards to trade in goods, both parties agreed to submit their market access offers by 28th September 2023.

At MEXA level, we believe there is significant potential for Mauritius to export other products to niche markets in the UAE. We are currently exporting articles of apparel, sugar and sugar confectionery, articles of wood, natural pearls, edible fruits and nuts to the UAE.

We would hereby request you to inform us should you be interested to explore the UAE market for exports. Kindly specify the products of exports and the HS Code for more precision and onward submission to the authorities concerned.
